Where science meets art. “Form follows Function”, a term anyone who has taken a Physiology or Modern Architecture class might know. In biology it refers to natural forms adaptation over time due to their intended functions. Biomedical Illustration seeks to capture the form and subsequent function of natural biology and medicinal science through clear, visual representation.
While the modern practice of Biomedical Illustration started in the traditional world of art at the turn of the 20th century, the last few decades have seen the prevalence and dominance of digital media in the field. Contemporary 2D Illustrations are either digitally ‘painted’, with pixels in Adobe Photoshop or a comparable software, or created with vectored paths in a graphic software such as Adobe Illustrator.

Not all illustrations are equal. Different types of illustrations have their ups-and-downs depending on their final output (or what you need them for). Explore the options here and get in touch so we can help you find the best fit for the job!
